Description | The project entails the construction and operation of photovoltaic complex in the State of Sonora, Mexico. Puerto Libertad will cover almost 10 km2 in the municipality of the same name near the Mar de Cortés coast in the Gulf of Baja California, around 200 kilometers north-west of Hermosillo, capital of the State of Sonora. The capacity of the facility is 317.5 MW. Sponsors are ACCIONA Energía and Tuto Energy, developing the facility in a joint venture (on a 50-50 basis). Four banks provided $ 264 million debt for the project implementation with the rest of the finance covered by the sponsors. The complex will produce 963 gigawatt-hours (GWh) per year to cover the electricity demand of 583,000 Mexican homes.
