Description

Description

The 82.5MW Pulida Solar PV power plant reached financial closure, as Enel began construction in May 2015. This BOO project worth an estimated US$265.9 million** would entail the development of solar pv power plant, located in Letsemeng Local Municipality, Xhariep District Municipality, Free State Province. It was a part of Window 3 of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) by Department of Energy (DoE). The project company was Pulida Energy (Pty) Ltd composed of Shanduka Solar Energy 1 (Pty) Ltd (20%, wholly owned by Shanduka Group (Pty) Ltd), Shanduka Black Umbrellas BBBEE Trust (15%), EGP SA BV(52.7%, wholly owned by EGP SPA) and Bathopele Letsemeng Community Trust (12.3%). Once fully operational, this would generate more than 150GWh annually enough to power around 48,000 homes therefore avoiding the emission of more than 138,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere each year. The energy generated by this new wind farm would be sold to the South African utility Eskom through a 20-year power supply agreement. http://www.nersa.org.za/Admin/Document/Editor/file/Consultations/Electricity/Presentations/Pulida%20Energy%20(Pty)%20LTD.pdf.
