Description

Description

The existing flow meter was stuck by lightning, replaced , hit by lightning, repaired and hit by lightning a third time. It is believed that it is because it was hard wired thus conducted the electricity causing the unit to stop working. The information will be transmitted through radio frequency as to prevent this from happening in the future. The scope of the project was to replace the flow meter that became non-operational and could not be repaired. The line was used to also measure the primary disinfections that was hard wired to communicate with the PCL. After the flow meter was replaced, the line was hit by lightning and rendered the communication inoperable. This happened twice. The solution was to use radio communication between the flow meter and PCL to ensure that the communication is not disrupted. The flow meter’s analog output will be through radio which transmits to a receiver located at the water plant, that outputs a value to the PLC. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Changes issued an order to have this completed.
