Description | The Puna Geothermal Venture (PGV) repower project involves rebuilding and modernizing the geothermal power facility by replacing older units with three larger, more efficient generators. This aims to shrink the plant's footprint, improve reliability, and continue supplying a major share of the Big Island's renewable energy. The project includes installing updated converters using a closed-loop binary system, new heat exchangers, air-cooled condensers, vapor-recovery equipment, and expanding the number of geothermal wells from 14 to 28. |
