Pune Satara Road (PS Toll Road) was created to implement a projec to increase to six lanes the 140 km section of NH 4 from km. 725 to km. 865.35 between Pune and Satara in the state of Maharashtra. This project is along the main corridor connecting Mumbai / Pune to southern parts of Maharashtra and all Southern States of India. The project scope in addition to six laning includes construction of 53 major structures and 240km of service road all along the entire corridor. The National Highway Authority of India awarded the project to PS Toll Road, a joint venture between Reliance ADA Group (74%) and the Chinese construction company Jiangsu Provincial Transportation Engineering Group Company JTEG (26%). The consortium won the project via a competitive tender by offering on highest premium amount of INRs.909 million (US$21.65 million). RFQ documents were issued during November 2008 and 18 parties were short-listed. Of these, nine bidders submitted the final bid. Concession agreement was signed in March 2010. The project was expected to be operational in July 2012. The concession period of the project is 24 years, including construction period. The project cost was estimated in INR 17.25 billion (US$377.2 million). Tolling of this project would commence with the signing of the Concession Agreement and financial closure which occurred in October 2010. The road was expected to be fully operational by July 2012.
