Punpun Barrage Project

Information Water Resources-B has come up with Punpun Barrage Project with a ticket size of 658.12 INR Crores. This project in Irrigation sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Notice to Proceed and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project Punpun Barrage Project envisages construction of the following components- [i] A 178 m long barrage at Hamidnagar in Goh block of Aurangabad district. [ii] Right main canal of 28.89 km length with Head discharge of 25.72 cumec. This canal is aligned along River Punpun and it travels through Goh Block of Aurangabad District, Bansi Surajpur and Kurtha Block of Arwal District and finally terminates at Hasanpura Village of Ratni-Faridpur Block of Jehanabad District. [iii] A 15.245 km long Kinjar distributary with design discharge of 3.85 cumec off taking from the right main canal at Sareya village of Kurtha Block of Arwal District and passes through kurtha Block of Arwal District, Ratni Faridpur Block of Jehanabad District, Karpi Block of Arwal District and Finally terminates in Bela Village of Paliganj Block in Patna District. [iv] A 45.80 km Long Branch canal viz. Punpun Branch Canal with design discharge of 21.87 cumec off taking off from the tail end of right main canal at Hasanpura Village, and passes through the Ratni Faridpur and Jehanabad Sadar Block of Jehanabad District and further enters into Patna District through Masaurhi Block and terminates in Punpun block of Patna District.. It will irrigate area between Punpun and Morhar rivers. The total annual irrigation contemplated from the project is 13,680 ha. spread in the districts of Patna, Arwal and Jehanabad.
