The Punta Lomitas wind farm is located in department of Ica, Peru. The facility has 296.4MW of electricity generation capacity - 260MW and additional 36.4MW expansion capacity with 60km transmission line. Power producer Engie Energia Peru SA, part of French energy utility group Engie SA is developing the project. Total project cost is $300m and it is provided with a 11-year loan from the IDB Invest. This loan package organized by the IDB includes $100m from the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank (FMO) and $55m from BNP Paribas. In March 2021, the power producer was granted a definitive concession from the Peruvian government to build and operate the Punta Lomitas wind farm, Engie’s first in the South American country. The plant would consist in the installation of 57 wind turbines, distributed over an area of 77 hectares, with a unit capacity of between 4.5 and 5.2 megawatts per wind turbine; and a 60 kilometer electric transmission line that would connect the wind farm to the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN). Siemens Gamesa was tapped to supply 50 units of the SG 5.0-145 turbines, while Spanish engineering and renewable group Abengoa SA was selected to build the transmission lines for the project.
