Sector: Water Supply and Storage • Location: Ontario, Canada

Source: Infrastructure Canada

Project
Completed

Objective: Purchase and install 2 of the 3 raw water low lift pumps which are critical to the operations as they feed all water to be treated to the treatment plant. The existing pumps are the age of the water plant and are due for replacement and show signs of wear through decreased performance. New pumps will allow us to better manage demand, reduce maintenance and extend the life of the pumps.

Description

Description

Objective: Purchase and install 2 of the 3 raw water low lift pumps which are critical to the operations as they feed all water to be treated to the treatment plant. The existing pumps are the age of the water plant and are due for replacement and show signs of wear through decreased performance. New pumps will allow us to better manage demand, reduce maintenance and extend the life of the pumps. Scope: To purchase new adequately sized raw water pumps similar in nature to the existing pumps. Remove the two pumps most in need of attention and replace with the newly purchased pumps. Wire the new pumps into the PLC (programmable logic control), test pumps, commission and provide training to staff of the operation of the new pumps. Output: Enhance the efficiency of the high lift pumping system at the water plant. These components coupled with the new high left pumps will enable the hydropneumatic tank to the removed. Benefits: Improved reliability of the water plant raw water feed system which is paramount to the operation.
