Completed

The project will purchase and install Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)/Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) controls to link the DO (dissolved oxygen) sensors and the turbo blower so the equipment will only be operating when needed. Having a second turbo blower will extend the life of the existing blower and provide a backup to a critical piece of equipment should there be a malfunc

Description

Description

The project will purchase and install Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)/Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) controls to link the DO (dissolved oxygen) sensors and the turbo blower so the equipment will only be operating when needed. Having a second turbo blower will extend the life of the existing blower and provide a backup to a critical piece of equipment should there be a malfunction or a need for major maintenance. Up to 90% of the electricity requirements of the treatment process is to have blowers infuse oxygen into the system. A turbo blower provides greater efficiency than a conventional blower. A turbo blower is expected to reduce energy consumption by operating at variable speeds. There are dissolved oxygen (DO) sensors mounted in the aeration tanks but there is no automation to signal the blower that more or less oxygen is required therefore, the blower runs continuously (24/7; 365 days per year).
