Purchase of computer aided dispatch / automated vehicle location (CAD/AVL) equipment for the 3 existing Inter-municipal Transit buses

Under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) legislation, all conventional transportation vehicles are required to have audible verbal announcements of all destination points or available route stops. As of January 1, 2017 these announcements must be announced through electronic means as well as be displayed legibly and visually through electronic means. The purchase of computer aided dispatch / automated vehicle location (CAD/AVL) equipment will replace an existing obsolete and non-functioning software on 3 existing Inter-municipal Transit (IMT) buses operated by the City of Niagara Falls on behalf of Niagara Region. The new CAD/AVL will reinstate the stop announcement system in working order, providing real-time information of the buses to all IMT users and staff, and enhancing customer experience. The software will be merged with St. Catharines Transit, which will support a larger effort to consolidate transit services in Niagara.
