Description
Description | Objectives: Begin replacing current infrastructure of rolling stock assets in an effort to improve, and continue to deliver transportation services to our community. This project will entail the purchase of 40’, 35’, Community and Para buses therefore improving the capacity of both conventional and specialized transit infrastructure. Replace current assets that have surpassed their average life of 13 years which exceeds the provincial average of 7.6 years. Scope: The scope of project required reviewing the current assets and determining the type and number of bus that need to be replaced based on age and maintenance needs. The goal will be to purchase a total of 9 - 40’ buses, 5 - 35’ buses, 3 - Para buses and 3 - Community buses throughout the life of this project. This will require determining the specifications of each type of bus, the cost of each type of bus and following through on the City of Sault Ste. Marie Purchasing and Procurement policy. Outputs: This project will result in 20 new buses for our community over the life of the project, that will replace 20 aging buses, that will drastically reduce the average age of our fleet. As a result it is expected that the maintenance and repair costs will be reduced, resulting in projected savings of $100,000 annually. |
