Description | PureField Ingredients received the first-ever Class VI underground injection well permit in EPA Region 7 for a carbon storage project near Russell, Kansas. The project involves capturing CO2 from fermentation at its wheat-based ethanol and food ingredient facility, transporting it by pipeline about five miles, and injecting it into the Arbuckle formation more than 3,400 feet underground. The permit allows up to 150,000 metric tons of CO2 annually, totaling 1.8 million metric tons over 12 years, with monitoring requirements extending 50 years beyond injection end. |
