Purple Line Light Rail Project

under construction

The Purple Line is a light rail project running from Bethesda to New Carrollton through suburban Maryland. The project recently reached a milestone with the installation of the final pieces of track. The project aims to create suburb-to-suburb transit connections and spur mixed-use development, including housing, around transit stations along the line. The Transit and Housing Opportunity Act incentivizes construction of mixed-use buildings around transit stations and designates these areas as enterprise zones with tax incentives and prioritized investment.
