Description | Long-term repairs are set to begin on the Cincinnati approach of the Purple People Bridge to permanently fix structural damage that caused a nearly six-month closure in 2024 and required a temporary shoring tower for more than two years. The City of Newport will replace the temporary shoring solution with a lasting fix intended to provide long-term stability. Construction is scheduled from the end of April through August, with temporary closures including a significant closure from May 4 through June 8. Additionally, a separate project includes a $2 million appropriation for installing dynamic, color-changing LED lighting on the bridge. |
