Description | Qantas is introducing the Airbus A350-1000ULR for test flights to Melbourne as part of Project Sunrise. The aircraft will undertake a non-stop test flight from Toulouse to Melbourne to assess its 22-hour range and capacity for long-haul routes such as Sydney to London. The test aircraft is equipped with monitoring equipment to gather flight data and will later be converted into a passenger-configured plane with premium suites and a Wellbeing Zone. The first A350 is expected to arrive in April 2027, with three aircraft operating daily Sydney-London flights by October 2027. Initial training flights will be conducted between Sydney and Melbourne. |
