Description | QatarEnergy LNG is expanding its fleet by ordering 24 new 271,000 cm (QC-max) LNG vessels from China, scheduled for delivery between 2028 and 2031. This expansion is part of a global increase in LNG vessel capacities, with 337 LNG vessels under construction worldwide as of end-2024. The vessels are designed to benefit from economies of scale and are compatible with the Panama Canal's expanded capacity. The orderbook includes vessels for long-haul delivery, including 21 icebreaker-class vessels for the Arctic LNG 2 project in Russia, although these face risks of delays due to international sanctions. |
