qathet - Lund Community Centre Expansion/Upgrade

The project will construct an approximately 6,900 square foot addition to the Lund Community Centre to create an indoor recreation and cultural space for the community. Upgrades to the existing kitchen will also be undertaken. The former gymnasium, located on private land, was very old and the new landowners ordered it closed and demolished. Since then, the community has not had space for indoor recreation. The closest gym is in Powell River, 28 km away. The existing community centre is in a small old building that does not have space for indoor sports or concerts/plays and can only accommodate 80 people in its largest room. The new addition will provide a half-court gym/assembly space with a small stage that can seat 200 people. The existing kitchen will be upgraded to a commercial kitchen able to provide the ability to cater to large meetings/events. The project works will include: - building expansion and upgrade; - commercial kitchen upgrade; and, - related works.
