QUAD: Accessible Eco-Tourism Social Entrepreneurship

"Accessible tourism is about making it easy for everyone to enjoy tourism experiences. Making tourism more accessible is not only a social responsibility – there is also a compelling business case for improving accessibility as it can boost the compe titiveness of tourism in Europe." – EC DG Growth Accessible tourism is a very big market. And, as the population ages, it will get even bigger. This Project will, in the timeframe of 18 months, ensure that persons with disabilities and limited mobili ty have access to two selected Special Nature Reserves in Banat and Csongrad, through establishing QUAD Social Enterprise. Accessible tourism, new service for people with limited mobility, which generates profit by engaging people with disabilities a nd elderly people as consumers of tourism destinations and products/services, will bring positive effect to cross-border area. In partnership with experience partner from Szdeged, and transfer of their knowledges, social enterprise for providing inno vative tourism service - touristic drive tours in Special Nature Reserves- for inclusion of people with limited mobility will be established. Environmental impact is highly positive, because ATV vehicles for touristic wagons will be powered by renewa ble energies. Also, workshops between SMEs and research institutions for generating innovative solutions for ATVs and other services in nature reserves, will have great environmental impact. Project has strong innovative character: this is the first time in history of rural tourism in target area to introduce tourism social business which promotes and develops accessible tourism, powered by renewable innovative resources. Social innovation is in setting up an service with so called "universal de sign": from the start it suitable for all citizens, including all those who have particular accessibility needs, their families and friends, creating thus environmental friendly-accessible-sustainable social tourism businesses.
