Description
Description | Within this Eurostat grant ‘Quality improvement of intra-EU trade data in the context of the micro-data exchange’ SURS has now the possibility to do all this work with study and reconciliation of intra-EU asymmetries based on MDE data. However, despite of all the good work already done so far in this field of work some more persistent asymmetries remain in intra-EU trade in goods data. This will allow SURS and the other Member States to find new and better ways to reconcile even more asymmetries. Especially those asymmetries that were till now difficult to investigate because of their specific nature (like asymmetries regarding special goods and movements data). In this way, positive results will be also visible in disseminated intra-EU trade in goods data. This new data source will allow the study of asymmetries on a more precise detailed individual trader level that was before not even possible with the emphasis more on our intra-EU imports asymmetries. Actions within this grant will also enable SURS to set up an asymmetry detection and resolution system in the free software environment, which will help in future systematically monitor, classify and reconcile the detected asymmetries using microdata made available via the newly established MDE system. This kind of automatized system of asymmetry detection and resolution has not yet been established at SURS. |
