Airport International Group (AIG) was created in November 2007 to implement the project consisting of the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of the Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) under a 25-year concession awarded by the Government of Jordan (GoJ). The concession required AIG to rehabilitate and operate the existing passenger terminals of the airport and related airside facilities, construct and operate a new passenger terminal, and demolish the existing terminals once the new terminal is fully operational.AIG’s works were planned to be completed in two stages. Stage 1 was completed in June 2013 with the new terminal open for traffic from late March 2013. The current project represents an expanded Stage 2 (the Expansion), planned to be implemented over the 3-year period 2014-2016 to increase the capacity of the airport.The project cost for the Expansion is about US$150 million, and IFC proposed contribution consists of loans of up to US$30 million for IFC’s own account. IFC will also arrange additional funding of up to US$70 million.
