Description
Description | The Airport International Group (AIG) consortium was awarded a 25-year concession to operate, rehabilitate and manage the Queen Alia International airport (QAIA) in 2007. QAIA is located 36km away from central Amman, the capital of Jordan. Under the concession, AIG’s works were planned to be completed in two stages/phases. Stage 1 was completed in March 2013 with the opening of a new terminal. Phase 2 involved demolition of the old terminal building and the building of seven new contact stands and the construction of other support services. The Phase II expansion of a new terminal building would increase the capacity to 12 million passengers per annum. Phase 2 reached financial closure in June 2014 after raising an additional US$100 m of debt from the project’s existing lenders. The IFC and IDB approved an additional USD 21.2 million and USD 25 million of debt financing respectively in May 2014. The AIG consortium consists of: • ADIC (38%) • Noor Financial Investments (24%) • Engineering and Development Group (9.5%) • Aeroports de Paris Management (9.5%) • J&P Overseas Limited (9.5%) • J&P Avax (9.5%) Construction of Phase II is expected over the 3-year period 2014-2016 to increase the capacity of the airport. should this be a separate project or part of the 2007 concession?? |
