Description

Description

This project will replace gas column connections and isolation valves to bring all operating room suites at Queen Elizabeth Hospital up to current Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standards. Upgrades will ensure that the entire hospital will be using the most current medical gas connectors (for oxygen, nitrious oxide, medical air, vacuum and nitrogen). The project will install CSA medical gas grade piping, and stainless steel ceiling medical gas columns (total of 8 required) complete with new Diameter Index Safety System (DISS) type outlets. It will replace leaking zone valves with new zone valve boxes coupled with with CSA-required alarms, and install new nitrogen gas control panels in each of the 8 operating rooms. It will include all required third-party testing and certification for medical gas operation. Connector standardization will decrease maintenance costs and time. Addressing gas leakage issues will also save medical gas usage and associated costs.
