Description
Description | The project will replace the failing municipal water and sanitary sewer infrastructure along a section of Queen Street, including: replacing approximately 125 m of existing pre 1945, 4 cast iron watermain; replacing 125 m of existing pre 1945 concrete sanitary sewermain; replacing 2 sanitary manholes installed pre 1945; and replacing 2 fire hydrants. The project will replace existing water and sewer services to 11 residential lots and 3 new vacant lots. The project will reconstruct the road and replace road surface with new asphalt including asphalt gutters to control storm water as there is no existing storm water management infrastructure on this section of Queen Street. The infrastructure is original core infrastructure installed pre 1945 and current issues include; poor water quality from aged cast iron, water pressure due to undersized watermain, inadequate fire flows due to undersized 4 watermain which restricts flows to the 6 watermain (this section is a bottleneck in the distribution system, watermain break in 2013 and a water service break in 2016. |
