The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has fully implemented the Queens Bus Network Redesign, the largest bus redesign in the United States. The redesign was executed in two phases starting on 29 June and 31 August 2025, aiming to provide faster buses, greater reliability, and increased access to jobs, education, and shopping for Queens, a borough with 800,000 daily riders. The redesign includes 124 routes with 94 Local and Express routes, an increase of 11 routes, representing a $33.7 million annual investment to improve operations. The project focuses on accessibility, transit equity, and stronger local bus service with faster trips, more frequent services, and better connections.
