Quesnel - Fire Hall #1 Upgrades

The project will update the Quesnel Fire Hall, which will increase seismic structural stability, bring the facility up to current building and accessibility codes and standards, increase public safety, remove asbestos, provide dedicated space for female firefighting volunteers to change, increase the size of apparatus bays, decrease occupational hazards, and lower greenhouse gas emissions. The project will update an old building that does not meet new building codes, is not seismically sound and has inefficient mechanical and heating systems. This project will bring the building up to code, will strengthen public safety and accessibility, increase gender equity for staff and volunteer firefighters and increase the lifespan of the building by 15-20 years. The project works include: -upgrade fire barrier walls; -new walls and partitions; -new concrete in fire bays; -structural laterial restraining system; -upgraded doors and hardware; -mill-work and finishes; -replace mechanical systems (gas meter, HVAC and controls); -replace plumbing; -exterior building envelope upgrade; -roof upgrade; -new life safety and lighting systems; -replace asphalt; -new change area; -asbestos removal; -accessible doors and ramp; and, - all related works.
