Quesnel - West Fraser Timber Park Trails

The project will improve approximately 2.6 km of trail in the West Fraser Timber Park trail network, including realignments, point of interest markers, and wayfinding signage. The improvements will provide recreational opportunities year-round. The need was assessed in multiple ways, including consultations and planning for the City’s Active Transportation Plan and other development strategies. The trail system surrounding the West Fraser Timber Park is in need of updating, as many trails have succumbed to water erosion or are sitting in wetlands for most of the year, and there is a significant lack of signage. The project will support the program outcome of improving the access to and increasing the quality of recreational infrastructure for Canadians including Indigenous people and vulnerable populations. The project works will include: - trail tread capping and points of interest (POI) construction; - trail realignments; - new trail construction; - wayfinding signage; and, - related works.
