Description

Hydrostor is developing an advanced compressed air energy storage (A-CAES) project in Greater Napanee, Ontario, called the Quinte Energy Storage Centre. The project aims to provide critical long-duration energy storage to Ontario's electricity grid and support the province's capacity needs in the 2030s. It will contribute to grid reliability and resiliency, create thousands of construction jobs, and approximately 40 permanent jobs during its 50-year operational lifetime. The project is being developed in partnership with the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte as an Indigenous equity partner and is expected to contribute over CA$1.4 billion to Canada's GDP. The project has received municipal support and will proceed with the permitting process involving municipal, provincial, and federal agencies. It is partially funded by a $50 million USD convertible development expenditure loan facility from the Canada Growth Fund.
