R Train Joyride Incident in Forest Hills, Queens

A group of suspects illegally took control of a vacant R train at the Forest Hills/71st Avenue station in Queens and drove it a short distance onto train storage tracks before fleeing. The incident was captured on surveillance video from inside the train. The MTA confirmed no damage or injuries occurred and the train never left the yard or entered active tracks. The suspects may have used a stolen key to access and operate the train.
