Description
Description | The Metropolitan Transit Authority is being urged by local politicians to separate the R-train service between Brooklyn and Manhattan to reduce commute times for Southern Brooklyn riders. This split service was previously implemented between August 2013 and September 2014 during repairs to the Montague Street tunnel after superstorm Sandy and was considered successful in reducing delays. The current plan to upgrade the R train's signal infrastructure will not cover the southern part of the line for at least five years, prompting calls for a quicker, cheaper solution by bifurcating the service at the Downtown Court Street station. |
