Description | The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is investigating unusual wheel wear on 24 R160 model subway trains, which were pulled from service due to this mechanical issue. The trains are relatively new, about 15 years old, and within their expected lifespan. To mitigate delays caused by this issue, some trains from the G line have been reassigned to the R line. The MTA is working to determine and fix the underlying cause while trying to restore normal service and increase train frequency during rush hours, especially towards Manhattan. |
