Description

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is investigating unusual wheel wear on 24 R160 model subway trains, which were taken out of service last month despite being only 15 years old. This mechanical issue has caused longer wait times and disruptions on the R train line in Brooklyn. To mitigate delays, some trains from the G line have been reassigned to the R line. The MTA is working to determine and fix the underlying cause while running more trains during rush hour to ease commuter frustrations.
