Description

Description

The 2-year 120 ECTS European Master of Science in Radiation and its Effects on MicroElectronics and Photonics Technologies (RADMEP+) provides a multidisciplinary and innovative programme covering the interactions between Radiation, MicroElectronics and Photonics. RADMEP+ objective is to educate students in those advanced technologies, providing methodologies and introducing practical applications for their implementation in a variety of radiation-rich environments. The field of radiation effects on components and systems is historically linked to space, fundamental science, nuclear energy, medicine and is now of major importance for new generations of power plants and for autonomous and electric vehicles. With technological integration, components and systems having become sensitive to the natural atmospheric environment, its effects had first been considered on aircraft electronics and today even the electronic systems at ground level are sensitive to natural radiation. It is then no longer be possible to develop advanced systems without recourse to the radiation analysis of which the students trained by the RADMEP+ Master's programme will be capable. Semester 1 (S1) will take place at Jyväskylä yliopisto. Two different specializations will be offered during S2 and S3. The first one will focus on ‘Radiation & Photonics’. Students selecting this track will follow during their S2 a curriculum jointly developed and delivered by Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Universiteit Gent before joining Université Jean Monnet Saint-Etienne for S3. Students opting for the ‘Radiation & Microelectronics’ track will follow S2 at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven before moving to Université de Montpellier (UM) for S3. All RADMEP+ students will ultimately undertake a master’s thesis either in an industrial, an agency or in a research center, e.g. from the large RADMEP+ network of 55 associate partners.
