Description
Description | Today, in a state of war, nuclear energy continues to play a leading role in ensuring the energy safety of Ukraine as a prerequisite for its economic and social survival. After the Russian invasion, there were new critical threats to seize the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and direct threats from Russian propagandists and government officials about the use of tactical nuclear weapons. The course towards European integration requires the solution of a number of issues related to the unification of Ukrainian legislation in the field of the use of nuclear energy with EU legislation. Changes in the regulatory framework of the system of state regulation of the safety of the use of nuclear energy in Ukraine should take place in accordance with the legislative requirements, taking into account international safety standards, recommendations of international organizations and world practice with the only global goal - the safety of life and health of a citizen as the implementation of one of the main European values. All this necessitates the dissemination among active members of the Ukrainian society of knowledge about risk factors and principles of radiation protection of the population, taking into account the need to introduce European standards in the field of radiation safety. Training will take place according to an interdisciplinary principle in three areas - physical, biological/ medical, regulatory. The expected product is a comprehensively trained specialist whose competences in the field of radiation safety will be in demand in various areas - public organizations, educational institutions of various levels, local governments, the army, and business. After the completion of the main stage of the project, the created website will be maintained, online courses will be conducted (with the possibility of adaptation on the Coursera), information will be monitored and published on changes in Ukrainian legislation in terms of its harmonization with EU legislation. |
