Radicalisation Prevention Competence Development Programme for Justice Professionals

R4JUST project aims to prevent and reduce the risk of radicalisation and violent extremism inside prisons by exploring a multi-sectoral approach, intending to enhance the competences of prison staff (RRAP Toolset - Multi-level radicalisation approach towards governors, frontline staff and technical staff), probation staff (e.g., probation officers/supervisors, psychologists), as well as judges and prosecutors, while fostering criminal and judicial multi-sectoral cooperation and networking on countering and preventing radicalisation. Activities: Under WP1, management tasks and 5 PMs will be organised. A survey will provide groundwork for a thoughtfull state of the art during WP2, as well as a database of EPs/ESs. WP3’s multi-sectoral training comprises 4 training courses (prison staff, probation staff, judicial professionals, ToT), besides its piloting activities. Under WP4, a training course for all justice professionals concerning the effectiveness of EPs/ESs will be developed/piloted. WP5 intends to engange justice professionals in multiple multi-level & cross-pollination actions. WP6 main features are the development of R4JUST’s website, certification courses for justice professionals after the completion of piloting activities, and the organisation of an international conference. Type and number of persons benefiting from the project: Prison staff (790); probation staff (270); judicial staff (115 judges; 115 prosecutors). Expected results: Partners/trainers/trainees’ development of a higher sense of role and knowledge in the field of radicalisation; improved capacity of P&P professionals to effectively recognise inmates at risk of radicalisation and act upon such identification; judges/prosecutors skill-enhancement on using RNA information during sentencing and decision-making; prison, probation and judicial professional raised awareness on the effectiveness of EPs/ESs; R4JUST sustainability & replicability (due to ToT courses).
