Replacing the analog radio communication system with a digital system providing enhanced functionality. The system is used by the drivers, supervisors, control centre and maintenance staff for various types of communications. The following have been completed: • Technical scanning of the various radio communication systems available on the market • Determining the RTL’s internal operational needs • Defining the mandatory criteria • Strategy for integration with some of the RTL’s components • Frequency impact analysis • Transition strategy with the current system • Technological recommendation The remaining aspects in phase 1 are as follows: • Finalization of the specifications • Call for tenders • Equipment purchasing • Detailed deployment planning • Proof of concept and partial deployment Second phase Anticipated start date: April 1, 2018 Anticipated end date: March 31, 2019 Project status: Not started
