Description

Description

"The project is part of the pre-identified, cross-border Rail Baltica global project connecting the three Baltic States with Central Europe along the North Sea – Baltic Corridor. The aim of the Rail Baltica Global Project (RBGP) (Tallinn-Riga-Kaunas-Warsaw axis) is to develop a new EU track gauge, double-track, electrified, fast conventional railway line to eliminate the infrastructure bottleneck – there is presently no 1435mm track connection of the Baltic states with the Single railway network (1520 mm network in the Baltic states dominates). This project constitutes the next phase of the nine ongoing CEF Actions. The primary focus of this project is to gain further progress and continue the construction of the Rail Baltica high speed railway line, which will link the three Baltic States with Central Europe along the North Sea – Baltic Core Network Corridor. The RBGP includes 870km railway mainline and specific sections construction in all 3 Baltic States, where design, land acquisition, procurement of constructions are completed to facilitate large-scale construction in 2024/2025. This Project consist of four Work Packages, that cover majority of geographical location of RBGP, in particular: Work Package 1 ""Management and coordination activities"" - encompasses cross-cutting management tasks that are required for the entire RBGP railway mainline (870km) and this specific Project; Work package 2 “Tallinn - Riga” - includes construction of main line substructure and associated elements that are critical to achieve the objectives of the RBGP; Work package 3 “Riga - Kaunas - LT/PL Border” - focuses on further construction of the railway superstructure and associated elements in specific sections; Work package 4 ""Construction of Railway Infrastructure Related Components"" - focuses on Construction of Skulte construction facility."
