Description

Description

The Project is part of the pre-identified, cross-border Rail Baltica project connecting the three Baltic States with Central Europe along the North Sea – Baltic Corridor. The aim of the Rail Baltica Global Project (RBGP) (Tallinn-Riga-Kaunas-Warsaw axis) is to develop a new EU track gauge, double-track, electrified, fast conventional railway line to eliminate the infrastructure bottleneck – there is presently no 1435mm track connection of the Baltic states with the Single railway network (1520 mm network in the Baltic states dominates). This The Project constitutes the next phase of the eight ongoing CEF Actions and the Rail Baltica Global Project Design Guidelines. The primary focus of this mixed works and studies application is to build further progress and enhance construction in various parts of the Rail Baltica high speed railway line, which will link the three Baltic states with Central Europe along the North Sea – Baltic Core Network Corridor. This project consist of 5 work packages that cover majority of RBGP geographical location: In more particular this project covers: Work Package 1 encompasses cross-cutting management tasks that are crucial for the entire RBGP (870km) and this Action (Project) including strategic communication and public relations. Work package 2 (“Tallinn – Riga”) includes construction of main line substructure and associated elements, that are critical predecessors to achieve the objective of the RBGP. Work package 3 (“Riga - Kaunas”) includes construction of main line substructure and associated elements that are critical predecessors to achieve the objective of the RBGP. Work package 4 (Land Acquisition) will ensure the continuity of acquiring the required land for the RBGP in all three states, which is a critical-path enabler for construction progression. Work package 5 (Construction of Railway infrastructure related Components), covers construction of Iecava construction logistics base. The outcomes of this action are: In Estonia the expected outcome is constructed and completed 6,9km of 1435mm double track mainline substructure and associated elements. Parallel works being completed include 1 road viaduct, 2 rail viaducts, 1 railway bridge and 1 ecoduct. Construction of 1 grade separated road crossing in county Raplamaa including all substructure and superstructure elements. Acquisition of 107 out of 200 identified additional land plots for construction activities in Estonia design sections DS1, DS2 and DS3.DPS1. In Latvia – completed 1 km of railway embankment and necessary access roads, completed 140 m long railway road overpass and established a construction base in Iecava that will allow to execute works in South part of Latvia. In Lithuania - completed 29,2 km of railway substructure (embankment, railway civil structures) and access roads on a missing link in Northern line “Kaunas-Lithuanian and Latvian state border”, completion of land acquisition in “Kaunas node” up to 100% level, and “Lithuanian-Polish border – Kaunas” up to 50% level.
