Description

The National Railroads Rehabilitation Project for Colombia will provide a loan of US $30 million to the Colombian National Railroads (CNR) to purchase equipment for its railroad rehabilitation program. The objective of the project is to rebuild railroad tracks, complete dieselization of the system, and procure rolling stock and other equipment to increase the CNR's carrying capacity. Its components are the procurement of: 1) freight cars and component parts; 2) diesel locomotives and spare parts; 3) shops and shop tools; 4) rails and accessories; 5) steel for bridges; 6) other railroad equipment and materials; and 7) consulting services and training. The new additions will allow the CNR to increase its carrying capacity in order to handle increased traffic demands on the railroads.
