Rainbow Families – empower and connect

This project aims to empower rainbow families (LGBTIQ individuals, their children and their larger families) in Slovenia and Croatia by educating them about their rights and enabling them to connect and share their experiences and good practices in the field of legal protection for rainbow families. This includes educational activities for rainbow families, research about the needs of rainbow families in Slovenia and Croatia as well as surveys on the acceptance of rainbow families and legal analysis in two countries. In our project, we will present the obtained data to decision-makers in order to improve the situation for rainbow families in Slovenia and Croatia and follow up with the collaboration with those that can improve the state under consideration. The project will raise awareness about rainbow families in both countries, building on activities that both organisations that are involved in the project currently implement in their practices. By doing so, it will shift the attitudes of the general public favourably towards issues faced by rainbow families and align practices and policies in both Slovenia and Croatia with the European Union LGBTIQ Equality Strategy 2020-2025, mainly the third pillar of targeted actions: “Building LGBTIQ inclusive societies''. Objectives: O1: Ensuring the implementation of project activities and accurate expenditure management, and quality and consistency in cooperation between the organizations; O2: Increasing awareness of the situation and human rights of rainbow families using data collection; O3: Ensuring wider empowerment, connection and education for rainbow families; O4: Contributing to improving the situation of rainbow families in Slovenia and Croatia by advocating for their rights. Work packages: WP1: Project management and coordination; WP2: Data collection and analysis; WP3: Education of rainbow families and general public; WP4: Advocacy and meetings with decision makers.
