Description | The Chhattisgarh government has approved a metro rail corridor connecting Raipur, Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, and Durg-Bhilai as part of the creation of a State Capital Region (SCR) modeled after the National Capital Region (NCR). The project aims to improve transit, reduce congestion, and serve over 50 lakh people expected to reside in the region by 2031. A feasibility survey has been sanctioned with Rs 5 crore in the 2024-25 budget. The SCR will integrate urban development, transport, housing, education, and health services across key city clusters, with the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) overseeing planning and regulation. |
