Raketa, a Slovak audiovisual production company founded in 2018, specializes in live-action, animated, and documentary films and series for both Slovak and international audiences. Led by Lukáš Hanulák, a Slovak-Canadian producer and director, and Vratislav Šlajer, an International Emmy-winning producer, it is one of the fastest-growing audiovisual companies in Slovakia. It manages all stages of production, from development through post-production to marketing and distribution and collaborates with a diverse international team of creatives and maintains close partnerships with producers from the Czech Republic, Poland, Nordics, Baltics, Canada, Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Romania, Ireland, Netherlands, Ukraine, etc. and sales agents, broadcasters, and platforms across Europe. The slate comprises four TV series, one feature film, and a short film, strategically leveraging diverse content and different development and financing opportunities: MOLOCH, a political thriller series set in contemporary Europe, exploring current geopolitical tensions, IN COAL BLOOD, a historical drama series with strong social themes, shedding light on pivotal moments of societal and social change, FALL OF GOD, a feature film drama examining the rise of fascism, offering a deep study of political and social dynamics, SLOPNE: WHO IS THE MURDERER, a true crime mystery series focused on the justice system, questioning fairness and accountability, ONE DAY, WE SHALL BE LOVED, a comedy series centered on LGBTQ+ characters, celebrating diversity and inclusivity, BAK, a short film, a Romani dance musical highlighting cultural richness and storytelling through music and movement. A Creative Europe Media Slate Development grant will enable Raketa to expand its development pipeline and address underrepresented topics like LGBTQ+ themes and contemporary political stories and deliver high-quality, socially conscious content that resonates with both local and international audiences.
