Description

On June 15 1990, Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Limited (IL&FS) won a BOT contract for the development and operation of an 11.5km toll road to carry commuter traffic between the Pithampur industrial complex and Indore City, Madhya Pradesh. The project includes the construction of a small bridge. The road cost US$1.9 million in sponsor equity (although Public Works Financing reports a total figure of US$2.8million). The road opened for operation in November 1993. IL&FS will operate the road until it has recuperated all construction costs and a specified rate of return. The road will then revert to a GOMP designated agency. The project was established as a Special Purpose Vehicle under the name MP Toll Roads Ltd (MPTRL). The project has a back-ended revenue cash flow under the Indian Toll Act (M P Amendment).
