Description
Description | The Rapel and Huasco Power Project, will finance a 280 MW hydropower plant, and a 15 MW thermal power plant, respectively as part of the Government's expansion program. The Rapel power plant will include construction of a dam across the Rapel river, creating a reservoir with a total discharge capacity of 10,000 cubic meters/sec. The powerhouse will be equipped with four turbines, each driving a 70 MW generator, while space will be provided for a later addition of a fifth generating unit. Six single-phase transformers will be installed, as well as an outdoor switching station. Transmission lines include a 120 kilometer 220 KV double circuit line, a 90 kilometer 154 KV single circuit line, and 140 kilometers of 66 KV lines, including extension to substations, and additional transformers, and switching equipment. The Huasco thermal plant will include the installation of two boilers, and two 7.5. MW turbo generators. Two 8,500 KVA transformers will be installed in the outdoor substation to step up the voltage to 66 KV, and, transmission lines will be constructed to include double, and single circuit lines. Four sub-stations will be constructed to supply power, and upon operation, the Empresa Nacional de Electricidad S.A. (ENDESA) will construct additional 66 KV transmission lines to connect the plant with the interconnected system of Chile's central area. |
