The overall objective of the project RADARR 2 (RAPID AND DURABLE ASPHALT ROAD REPAIRS 2) is to commercialize the unique microwave technology for asphalt roads repairs. The novelty of the technology lies in a completely new approach in pavement repair offering great advantages for various kinds of customers like maintenance companies, highway maintenance centres, regions and municipalities, associations of municipalities, private highway operators and construction companies. Microwave technology represents a revolution in asphalt road maintenance. It brings durable repair results, faster application and it is simple, more effective and economic in comparison with currently applied technologies. Application of the microwave technology enables elimination of non-homogenous connection of repaired spot resulting in significant extension of repairs life span. Extended life span of repairs means great savings for infrastructure owners and operators and consequently it means great market opportunity for FUTTEC Corporation. Another great competitive advantage of FUTTEC technology is the possibility of performing repairs during winter season, when competitive solutions are highly limited by the weather and unable to offer qualitatively comparable results. Outcome of the project RADARR 2 will be tested microwave machine FT3 ready for commercialization. FT3 machine represents functional versatile device, which is using the microwave energy for repairs of cracks in asphalt surfaces (potholes) and is able to connect technological joints of new and repair asphalt using polymerisation agent. The machine will be adapted to customers’ needs and preferences in order to maximize the commercialization potential. The FT3 machine has the potential to change the approach of asphalt repairs and offer a technologically advanced solution suitable for 21st century.
