RBI Project Finance Directions 2025

Planned

The Reserve Bank of India issued norms to provide a harmonised framework for financing of projects in infrastructure and non-infrastructure sectors by banks, NBFCs and other regulated entities. The directions include revised regulatory treatment upon change in the 'date of commencement of commercial operations' (DCCO), adoption of a principle-based regime for resolution of stress in project finance exposures, and rationalisation of permissible DCCO extensions with ceilings of three years for infrastructure and two years for non-infrastructure sectors. Projects are divided into design, construction, and operational phases for prudential guidelines application.
