Reading to Philadelphia Passenger Rail Project

The project aims to restore passenger rail service connecting Reading, Pottstown, and Phoenixville with Philadelphia, New York, and the Northeast Corridor. Amtrak and the Schuylkill River Passenger Rail Authority (SRPRA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalize their partnership for this project. Amtrak will be the proposed operator and will conduct ridership forecasting, revenue estimating, and cost estimating tasks as part of the Federal Railroad Administration Corridor Identification and Development Program (CIDP). SRPRA is also working on project management, route analysis, and outreach plans to advance the project.
