Within this Grant, Croatian Bureau of Statistics (CBS) will carry out activities within the Activity 1. Quarterly house sales indicators. The general objective of this project is to set-up procedures, data collection systems and technical solutions for developing and implementing the following quarterly house sales indicators: the number and the value of dwelling transactions. Also, it will be explored how to provide this data for different categories (new and existing dwellings), type of dwelling (flat or detached house) and geographical areas. Objectives will be achieved through the following activities: The main activities will include the analysis of the current data source that have been used for House Price Index (HPI) calculation purposes (Tax administration) and to explore possible additional data sources. Besides, different categories to split available data on house sales will be explored as well as possibility of further breakdown for type of dwellings and for different geographical areas. Project activities will include the study of the methodology that Croatian National Bank and Economics Institute/Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets used to produce the statistics concerning house sales data and then to compare this data with results obtained in this project. Finally, production system for number and total value of dwelling transactions will be established resulting with regular transmission data to Eurostat as the main outcome of the Grant Project. CBS will be responsible for conducting all phases of the action. The outcome of the Grant will enable CBS to incorporate new relevant statistical indicator in the regular statistical production.
