Description
Description | Poland, like Eurostat, recognizes the need for further work on the development of the house price index and therefore declares its willingness to join the project for priority A: Testing the feasibility of publishing national and EU/EA HPI flash estimates. The main purpose of the project will be to test the feasibility of publishing the national house price index flash estimates. Currently, data are presented on a quarterly basis three months after the end of the reporting period. Within the framework of the “Real Estate Statistics” project of priority A, the following activities are planned for implementation: - review, analysis and application of data sources that will be able to provide information for flash estimates of the house price index; - development and application of econometric models and forecasting techniques to generate flash estimates of the house price index that take into account the limited availability of data sources; - development of test national flash estimates of the house price index and analyze their quality; - participation in the work of a dedicated task force established by Eurostat. The data sources currently used in the development of the house price index make it impossible to prepare flash estimates of the index, so it is necessary to try to identify new data sources. New data sources will have to be carefully analyzed for their quality and applicability to the development of HPI flash estimates. If it turns out that the new data sources are also characterized by limited availability, then in order to generate HPI flash estimates, it is planned to develop and apply econometric models and forecasting techniques. The work described above will contribute to the development of test national flash estimates of the house price index, which will then be subjected to quality analysis in accordance with the adopted criteria. |
