The Michigan Department of Transportation will rebuild the bridge that carries the East Beltline over I-96 in Grand Rapids. The project includes widening the bridge to add a dedicated lane for northbound Beltline traffic to access the highway below, alleviating traffic congestion. It will also add a new nonmotorized path over the bridge, replacing the structure originally built in 1961.
