Rebuilding Clock Tower at Spartanburg County Courthouse

planned

The Support the Spartanburg Bicentennial Clock Tower group proposes rebuilding the downtown clock tower on the grounds of the Spartanburg County Courthouse, opposing the city plan to rebuild it at Barnet Park. The group has asked the county council for a resolution to allow the city to rebuild the tower at the courthouse. The city had removed the tower from its previous location on West Main Street to support new development and plans to relocate it to Barnet Park. The group argues the tower is a monument to the Revolutionary War and should remain prominent and standalone, not connected to a larger gateway as proposed for Barnet Park.
